This year get your family involved in a project that's inexpensive and fun. Whether in a garden or in a container, grow the ingredients for topping your own pizzas!

Prep time:
Start planning as early in the season as you'd like.
Seeds are available now and starts will arrive as
weather permits.
Allow a couple of hours to prepare the soil and plant.

An area in the yard or a container that gets good
light all day.
Seedlings, seeds starts or sets for pizza related
plants, such as tomatoes, bell peppers, onions,
basil, oregano and spinach.
Rake or hoe and trowel
Garden Soil, fertilizer and mulch.
Hose, sprinkler or watering can and water source.

Recipe:

rake. Work in garden soil and fertilizer.
Plant seed packs according to directions
such as how deep and/or far apart and starts per label.
Water deeply to the root, then place a 2 inch layer of
mulch around seedlings to control weeds and retain
moisture.
Water deeply as needed and pick as they ripen.

Truly enjoy the fruits and vegetables of your labor!
